My Current Obsession

Immunity is the Key to Good Health

I was posed an opinion about kids going to school sick and how a few disgusted parents felt very enraged over it. My response wasn't taken kindly, of course.

My son caught a cold from his classmates, I made him stay home to fight a fever for a few days and he felt better.  I went to a grocery store and the clerk was so sick she lost her voice, I feel like I caught her cold too.  I can't blame her, can I?  If I do get sick, my husband or my child will likely catch it too.  I will probably stay home and fight it off but to see this same lady working a few days later, looking a really clammy mess.  Just makes me laugh at the ridiculousness that she is suffering and not getting better for it.

Sadly, my son's pediatrician confessed that doctors are notorious for working when they're sick, and it's the cold season so it's generally a 'healthy' person's responsibility to keep their immunity strong for whatever comes along.

We all have expectations of people being good, considerate and taking care of their business, which doesn't always happen. It's best to just not to impose one's rules on others and simply get more sleep and eat well to fight off the germs.  Ethics simply don't pump out as nicely as antibacterial gel.  We do not live in a safe bubble from others and I do not wish to have this kind of separation from people.  Human interaction is imperative to a normal livelihood, be it sick children or infectious adults.

When we start thinking that we are germ-free, we need to think of history and how people were actually quarantined to an island for a non-infectious disease called leprosy.  There's a reason it's called the cold season and I've been told to expect little runny noses and fevers through the Winter with relief in March. Sleep well, eat healthy and exercise and you'll fight it off nicely.  Don't bother stressing yourself out with wasted energy on anger toward the sick. This kind of angry behavior just makes me sad and I feel the love of others is more important than self righteousness. Am I wrong to think like this?

New to Blogger

Here I am, ready to share my ups and downs in the world of beauty. I call myself Gloss Junkie as most of the beauty junkie and lipstick junkie names have been spoken for.  I've tried most beauty lines above normal and practical prices and those way below and plentiful at the drugstore.  I just needed a place to put my rants w/o offending anyone; least of all those on FaceBook.  Because, that's just 'drive-by' knowledge when people (men) don't really want to hear about eyelash serums or fantastic skin care.  So bear with me while I try this out and share what I like to call.... Confessions of a Beauty Junkie.
